Character Swap: Cold

Frost formed intricate designs in the cold window that Kali looked through. Her red eyes darted about, looking at the winter scene outside. A fresh blanket of snow covered everything, and long icicles hung delicately from the tops of buildings. People walked about with wrapped up packages and sipped warm drinks as they walked through the snowy streets. Kali hated this season, she hated this weather, she hated it all so much.

"I hate Christmas." She groaned to herself. She walked over to a chair and flopped down. "I hate this joy, I hate this cheer, and I HATE ALL THE EGGNOG PEOPLE DRINK!!!" She flicked a lock of her red hair out of in front of her nose. If she hated Christmas so much, she'd just have to stop it somehow. But how would she stop Christmas? It was but two days away. She stood up and flapped her wings in disgust.

RRIIINNNNGGGG!!!!! Chimed the doorbell.

"Oh, now who is it?!" Kali growled. She picked up he axe that laid beside the door and opened it to find six people in red choir robes.

"Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way," they sung, "Oh what fun it is to ride in a-"

"Sing one more word and you'll get the business end of my axe!" Kali shouted. Quickly the Carolers scampered away. As Kali closed the door, she had an idea. For this Christmas she'll scare people and ruin the holiday for them. She quickly reopened the door and ran outside. She didn't care that she wasn't wearing anything on her feet, or sleeves for that matter, she was ready to ruin Christmas.

*****

Within half an hour, she was at the Tree farm. With her axe in her hand she smiled and grinned. She hacked at a tree as her heart filled with glee. The fir fell with a thud, it's needles scattered upon the snow. She went to another tree, and did the same as the first. Tree after tree was chopped up and ruined. She than lit a match and set it ablaze. Kali cackled with joy as the trees burned to ash.

*****

Kali than waited until night to start phase two of her plan. When all were in bed, and dreaming so sweetly, Kali snuck into a store that sold presents daily. She grabbed some toy lurkers and looking so smug, tore of their heads, one by one. She destroyed all the teddy bears, toy zoomers and toy guns. She smashed all the snow globes and shredded the garland. Suddenly she stopped, her eyes set on a Santa suit.

"I can scare every girl and boy!" She cried out for joy. So she slid on the suit, and the beard, and the hat, and added a pillow to make her look fat. She left the ruined store walking as quiet as a mouse, than rang a doorbell to wake the whole house! A child opened the door and, rubbing her eyes, turned around and than shouted, oh so loudly she cried,

"Oh, Santa is here! All of you look! He has a big beard, just like in my book!" The child's eyes sparkled, on her face a big grin, as she carefully and quickly led Kali right in. They walked to a tree and than sat down, as four more children gathered around.

"Why are you early?" One young boy asked.

"Why child, you see, I wanted to show you this axe."  Kali yanked off the beard and pulled her axe out of the  coat. She than hacked at the tree and it fell like a mighty oak. The kids ran off and screamed as Kali cackled with glee. She ran to house after house with so much joy, as she scared ever mother and father, every girl every boy.

"Would you PLEASE STOP RHYMING!!!"

Sorry, I was just having to much fun.

Anywhoo, next thing she. knew, it was Christmas Eve. Kali laughed as she slumped down into her armchair. People were seeming pretty miserable now that they were all scared and all of their decorations were destroyed. Things just seemed to perfect. But than ever so softly she heard a little Christmas carol. Maybe she was hearing things? No, there was most certainly singing going on outside. Kali got up and stormed to the door. What she saw before her was unbelievable. People were laughing and dancing and skating and having all sorts of fun. They strung lights everywhere: on lamps, buildings, benches, chairs. All the people there were downright jolly.

How could this be? Kali thought to herself. She destroyed all Christmas trees and smashed all the toys, people should be miserable now. Kali thought to herself as she slammed the door. Maybe the presents and the trees weren't all there was to Christmas. Maybe there was a deeper, more special kind of joy. The doorbell rang. Kali opened the door. Siting on the step was a big cup of eggnog and a note. She picked up the note and read it.

"Merry Christmas" it said. Kali kicked the eggnog off of the step and tore up the note. She ran inside and grabbed her axe. She'll just have to try to ruin Christmas again. This will be fun.

I love this so much! This also sounds like something Kali would do! Thank you so much!
